Student Accessibility Services works with IC students, staff, and faculty to facilitate equal access and inclusion for students with disabilities. Through accommodations, education, and 1 on 1 connection and support, we hope to improve understanding of disability as an identity across the college and help to expand inclusive or universal design initiatives.
Through an interactive process, the office coordinates accommodations such as academic adjustments, assistive technology, housing and dining considerations, and other supports tailored to individual needs. Student Accessibility Services also provides resources and guidance to faculty and staff, promoting universal design and equitable practices across campus. SAS currently represents 25% of the IC student body for a variety of disabling conditions.
If you give to SAS, you may be supporting:
- Individual technologies or supports that improve success and access for a student;
- More education and workshops on inclusive design and disability visability for staff, students, and faculty;
- Develop greater services for increased access. (Our pie in the sky ideas around transportation, built in Bluetooth accessible assisted listening systems, or on-demand visual access assistance.)
Your gift will help to ensure improved access and inclusion for students with disabilities at IC!
