Please consider supporting the Office of Public Safety as we continue to grow the reach and impact of our Prevention Education and Community Engagement (PEACE) Committee. At its core, the PEACE Committee exists to ensure that members of the Ithaca College community feel safe, supported, and connected, not just in moments of crisis, but in the everyday experiences that shape a true sense of belonging, while also supporting intentional connections with the greater Ithaca area community.

Since its inception, the PEACE Committee has been dedicated to fostering holistic student development by creating spaces where individuals can build confidence and form meaningful connections through skill-building and prevention education, equipping students with the tools and knowledge to navigate and overcome challenges. These efforts go beyond programming, creating moments where students feel less alone and where a single conversation can spark growth and lasting impact.

Your support directly sustains this work, helping us expand workshops, trainings, and events that promote well-being and contribute to a safer, more compassionate campus for everyone.

Examples of PEACE Committee initiatives include:

  • IC Runs Purple 5K, bringing together on- and off-campus partners to raise awareness about domestic and dating violence while fundraising for the Advocacy Center of Tompkins County.
  • Red Flags & Real Talk, promoting healthy relationships and helping students recognize unhealthy or toxic behaviors in friendships and intimate relationships.
  • Traffic Safety Education Week, promoting responsible driving and equipping students to make safe, informed decisions behind the wheel, both on and off campus.
  • Car Basics, equipping students with essential vehicle knowledge for driving in the Northeast.
  • Charity Softball Tournament, bringing together four full-time law enforcement agencies in Tompkins County to raise awareness about suicide and support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
  • The Communication Lab, providing opportunities for students to build interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Pancakes with Public Safety, fostering connections between students and the Office of Public Safety in residential spaces.
  • Alternative programming (e.g., Blooms & Brews, Jingle Jangle Jubilee), offering engaging on-campus activities that promote safe, healthy choices during times of the year where off-campus festivities encourage risky behaviors.
