Guiding Eyes at Ithaca College works with Guiding Eyes for the Blind's National Organization, specifically the Finger Lakes Region. Guiding Eyes for the Blind raises and trains service dogs that will be matched with an individual who are blind or have vision loss. Currently, we have eleven dogs being raised on campus by student volunteers. In addition, we support a network of over forty sitters for dogs being raised at Ithaca College and throughout the Finger Lakes region. Student puppy raisers provide essential foundational training, including house manners, socialization, basic commands, and confidence which are skills that prepare each dog for success in future harness training. We also work to raise both funds and awareness for Guiding Eyes for the Blind and its mission.
Your support can help do so much and support our mission. Your donations will help support our puppy raisers at Ithaca College by allowing us to help students with the costs of puppy raising. Puppy raisers pay out of pocket for the basic necessities of raising a puppy including bags of dog food and the toys that their puppies play with. In addition, your donations enable us to host events that raise awareness, strengthen our community, spread our mission, and expand our impact as both a club and an organization.
